On Thursday, October 1, 2015, at 6:30pm, we will be hosting a celebration to honor the life and legacy of the late Grand Master Helio Gracie (1913-2009), the man responsible for developing Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. The celebration coincides with his birthday, which would have been his 102nd. Due to the celebration, there will be no classes on Thursday. We would like to invite all students (adults and kids) as well as family and friends to join us at the school for this special event. As part of the celebration, there will be a promotion ceremony for those students who have earned their next stripe or belt. There will also be a raffle, during which students will have a chance to win prizes such as T-Shirts, hats, rash guards, and uniforms.
It is very important to preserve the history and traditions of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, and to remember the lives and teachings of those who came before us. Without the dedication and commitment of Grand Master Helio Gracie, there would be no Gracie Jiu-Jitsu as we know it. All of us who enjoy the benefits of the art should do our part to keep these traditions alive and preserve them for later generations of students. Please make an effort to attend the celebration and learn about the rich history of our art and its most important figure.
All students who attend should wear a clean LX uniform, as we will be taking group pictures as part of the festivities. Please make a special effort to join us in honoring Grand Master Helio Gracie on this special day, and we look forward to seeing you at the celebration!
