Our Fundamentals program is designed to introduce students to the principles of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and the basic techniques that make up its foundation. The program has been adapted from Grand Master Helio Gracie’s private lesson curriculum and includes over 100 potentially life-saving self-defense techniques designedto be applied during real street confrontations. Professor Xavier modified the original private lessons program in order to teach it in a group lesson format. The Fundamentals program is a great way for experienced Gracie Jiu-Jitsu/Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu players to refine their technique and an essential part of the learning process for beginning students. In order to efficiently apply the techniques learned in fundamentals class you must be committed to learning through repetition. Frequent practice enables students to react calmly during threatening situations giving them the ability to react confidently and decisively.
The advanced program is the continuation of the principles and basic techniques that our students acquire during training in the Fundamentals program. Professor Xavier makes a careful evaluation of each student’s progress in the fundamentals portion of their training so that when they feel comfortable and ready to take the next step they can acquire a complete and profound understanding of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu. Our advanced program dissects all of the elements of a fight allowing our students to apply the use of leverage, timing and momentum in order to expand and refine their knowledge base by learning new techniques, combinations and counter attacks as well as improve on their reaction time and conditioning while gaining experience. During advanced program training our students begin to grow as martial artists and polish their overall game.
Our women’s self-defense program is designed to maximize the effectiveness of Gracie Jiu-jitsu techniques while taking into consideration the capabilities of the female body. This program is designed to empower women by increasing the awareness of their surroundings and enabling them to react calmly and effectively in order to defend themselves in adverse situations like confronting a robber or, in worst-case scenarios, fending off a potential sexual assault. Using the principles of leverage, timing, positioning and momentum will allow women, regardless of their build, to neutralize size differences, whether standing or on the ground, when defending themselves from any attacker. The women’s self-defense program also serves as a very effective aerobic and anaerobic exercise that through consistent attendance will result in weight loss, improved cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, increased strength and muscle tone and an overall sense of healthiness and well-being.
